NEW PITCH PRODUCT LAUNCHED – By Leah Mathura-Dookhoo (Guardian South Bureau)
Despite its financial setbacks, Trinidad Lake Asphalt is moving full speed ahead with plans for the commissioning of its pelletisation plant in La Brea during the first quarter of 2005.
At yesterday’s launch of the new Cold Mix Patch manufactured by TLA and Super Pave Ltd, at Cara Suites in Claxton Bay, general manager of TLA, Wayne Wood said, “the company can be proud of its range of asphalt products and innovation, but it has not exhibited year-on-year successful financial and operating high performance.”
Wood said that will change with Government’s approval of the pelletisation plant and new factory are now being constructed at a cost of $20 million.
TLA and Super Pave Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday which Wood said, “was a combination of quality products from Lake Asphalt, which some may call pitch, and Super Pave cold mix formulation.”
The new cold mix patch is a high performance asphaltic cold mix patch which bonds to any form of asphaltic concrete or Portland cement concrete surface, which will be packaged in one-tonne bags and ten-pound buckets.
The easy-to-use cold mix patch would also be sold retail to locals for permanent repairs to streets, driveways, parking lots and floors.
